Pastor Jonathan Smith is an ordained minister of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, a native of Chicago, IL and a former resident of Tucson, AZ. Pastor Smith returns to Tucson, AZ, his home of 19 years, to pastor the Tucson Sharon Seventh-day Adventist Church. Pastor Smith earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology with a Minor in Biblical Languages from Oakwood University (then Oakwood College). He later returned to his alma mater and completed his Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies. In an effort to further his education to minister more comprehensively, he completed his Master of Public Health from The George Washington University in Washington, DC.
Pastor Smith has served his communities in numerous capacities such as PRN Hospital Chaplain, Police Department Community Chaplain, Mayor's Clergy Advisory Council, Certified Marriage Counselor, Community Health Advocate, and a member of numerous non-profit boards.
Pastor Smith believes that the call to the gospel ministry "is a call to participate in and the continuation of the self-sacrificing service of Jesus Christ on behalf of humankind in the context of the Great Controversy between Christ and Satan."
Pastor Smith's ministry philosophy is based on Ephesian 4:11-16. He endeavors, by the grace of God, to Educate, Equip, Empower, and Encourage the saints of God to lead men, women, boys, and girls to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.
Pastor Smith has been married for 21 years to his pearl of great price and they have three wonderful children.
Pastor Smith's ministry goal is to make disciples that are conformed to the image of Christ for the sake of others (Col. 1:27).
Pastor Smith's motto is "Have Bible Will Travel."
